Inter-school Swimming Sports 2014!!!!

On the 27th of March, at about 10am -2pm Kapanui School was at the new aquatics centre competing in races with other schools.

WHAT DID YOU DO THERE?

Kapanui School enters the swimming sports each year to compete against other schools to win a trophy and of course to have fun.

WHO?

Remember our school swimming sports this year? Well, from that, Mr Brunton chose all the swimmers who got a placing in the finals and placed them in the inter-school swimming sports.

HOW DID KAPANUI GET THERE?

The inter-school swimming sports normally takes place at Waikanae Pool, but since the pool is closed the organisers decided for it to be at the new aquatics centrer in Paraparaumu. Kapanui School always walks to Waikanae Pool but this time, we had to take a bus.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The races for the 8,9 and 10 year old girls and boys races took place first. Then the seniors races were held.

WHAT ARE THE PROS OF THE SWIMMING SPORTS BEING AT THE  NEW POOL?
  • You can hear the announcements better, because it is inside the microphone echoes around the pool
  • The pool is shorter so the races are shorter and you don't have to swim as far
...AND CONS?

  • The pool is not the full length
  • It is very deep in some parts
  • The water is very cold
  • You can not eat between races because you are not allowed to eat inside the pool
